Youth Program

Have you ever wondered what the church of the future will look like? Would you like to have any doubts about is viability quenched? Have you been mystified by the advances of modern technology and wonder why about cell phones and Facebook and the internet? Would you like to feel enlivened by hope and possibility?

Then join Trinity as we embrace and celebrate youth. Young people are the church of today and tomorrow. We consider those in grades 6 through 12 youth and those younger as on their way.

Youth Faith Lens Class

1st & 3rd Sundays, September - Mid-June

Youth gather for study, fellowship, friendship and service on 1st and 3rd Sunday mornings from September through mid-June, using the Faith Lens curriculum published by The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Gatherings take place in the Youth Room. Conversation, fun and food are the order of the day as we take stories from the front page news and connect world events with the Bible, faith and everyday life. Open to youth in grades 6 – 12, the Faith Lens class is an important time for the planning of monthly youth group activities chosen by the youth themselves. No registration is necessary for this class. Just show up. We encourage adults to volunteer to serve as youth group mentors and class facilitators. Training will be provided. Contact the church office at info@tecarl.org to volunteer.

Youth Confirmation Prep

Contact Rev. Coleman for times

Rather than lump the youth in with the adults’ Inquiring Minds class, we offer a special, shorter series for age 11 and up. We seek to give this age group a safe space to ask their questions about faith and to make their own decision about what they want to do with their faith. Modeled after our Baptismal Covenant, the class invites our young people to look at what those baptismal vows mean in practice as well as explore how the Episcopal Church differs in its understanding of God from other faiths and other denominations. For additional information, contact the Rev. Kim Coleman.

Youth Outreach and Mission

Trinity nurture of young people focuses upon study, service and social activities, including a summer mission trip when possible. Past sites have included Newark New York, York Pennsylvania and the Beach Towel Ministry in North Carolina. In each location, youth dedicate their energy and time to improving the life of others, whether that be by assisting at a day care center, renovating residences, or feeding the hungry. Youth match the monies budgeted by the church through various fundraising activities they hold over the year.

Community Service Credits

Middle and High School students can earn community service credit for their school by being Acolytes during our 10:00 am service; Fall or Spring Service projects within the community; or by volunteering in the office. Projects will be provided for students to work on. This opportunity is opened to all students in the Arlington area as well. Please contact the church office at info@tecarl.org should you need to earn credits.
