General
Convention Report
September 20 & 27
Richard Taliaferro
With
few precedents for a republican form of church governance, the first
General Convention met in 1785 in
Philadelphia. Today, it meets triennially;
elected bishops make up the House of
Bishops, and lay and ordained deputies make up the House of Deputies.
What happened in Anaheim this July? What resolutions were considered
that affect our church’s life? How did our bishops vote?
